Volleyball Drops Four-Game Match At Idaho Monday Night

MOSCOW, Idaho - Utah State's women's volleyball team dropped a four-game match (30-19, 31-33, 30-22, 30-28) against Idaho here at Memorial Gym Monday night. USU is now 15-12 on the season and falls to fourth-place in the Western Athletic Conference with a 9-5 league record with the loss, while Idaho improves to 11-14 overall and 7-7 in conference play with the win.

Senior opposite side hitter Amanda Nielson (West Valley City, Utah) led Utah State with 16 kills, while junior outside hitter Melissa Osterloh (Sandy, Utah) notched her sixth straight double-double with 12 kills and 19 digs. Senior outside hitter Monarisa Ale (Kahuku, Hawai'i) added 11 kills and a career-high 16 digs for the Aggies.

Haley Larsen recorded 22 kills and 22 digs to lead Idaho, while Sarah Loney had 20 kills, 11 digs and eight blocks.

Idaho began the match by hitting .225 (14-5-40) in game one, while holding Utah State to a .022 (11-10-45) hitting percentage to record the 11-point win. USU rebounded in game two by hitting a robust .438 (19-5-32) to notch the two-point win as UI hit .234 (19-8-47). In the final two games, Idaho hit a combined .163 (34-17-104), while USU could only hit .061 (24-18-98) and lost the match in four games.

Overall, Idaho hit .194 (67-30-191) in the contest as compared to a .120 (54-33-175) hitting percentage for Utah State. The Vandals also recorded 2.5 more team blocks (16.0-13.5) and two more service aces (9-7), while the Aggies had three more digs (77-74) and one fewer service errors (9-8).

Utah State will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 8 when it hosts Nevada in its final home match of the season at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
