HONOLULU, Hawai'i - Utah State's women's volleyball team lost a three-set match (25-19, 25-14, 25-13) to Hawai'i here late Saturday night in Western Athletic Conference action. USU falls to 7-6 in league play and 9-15 on the season with the loss, while Hawai'i improves to 12-1 in the WAC and 19-3 overall with the win.
Senior outside hitter Melissa Osterloh led Utah State with six kills, while fellow senior outside hitter Kris Hymas had five kills and four digs.
Jamie Houston had a match-high 13 kills for Hawai'I, while Kanani Danielson added seven kills and a match-high 12 digs.
Utah State played well in the opening set as it hit .233 (10-3-30), but lost by six points as Hawai'i hit .324 (16-5-34). The Rainbow Wahine then dominated the next two sets as it hit a combined .551 (30-3-49) as compared to a .077 (13-9-52) hitting percentage for the Aggies.
Hawai'i finished the match with a .458 (46-8-83) hitting percentage and Utah State hit .159 (25-12-82). UH also had 16 more digs (41-25) and four more service aces (5-1) in the match, while USU had one fewer service errors (11-10).
Utah State will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 6 when it hosts San Jose State in its final home match of the 2008 season at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Prior to the match, USU will honor its four seniors in Rebecca Anderson, Heather Hillier, Kris Hymas and Melissa Osterloh.
