No. 18 Oregon Rolls Past Utah State, 66-24

EUGENE, Ore. - Behind 132 rushing yards from LeGarrette Blount and 173 passing yards from Justin Roper, 18th-ranked Oregon rolled up a school record 688 yards of total offense in its 66-24 non-conference win against Utah State here at Autzen Stadium Saturday afternoon.

For the second straight week, Diondre Borel came off the bench to lead Utah State's offense as the sophomore signal-caller finished the game with 157 yards passing (16-24-0) and 31 yards rushing. Borel also had a career-high two TD passes in the game, completing a 15-yard pass to sophomore TB Curtis Marsh in the second quarter and later a one-yard toss to senior WR Otis Nelson in the fourth quarter.

Senior FS Caleb Taylor stopped Oregon's first drive of the game in the redzone with his fifth career interception. However, following a three-and-out on USU's first offensive series, the Ducks responded with touchdowns on each of their next five possessions to take a commanding 38-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Utah State got on the board early in the second quarter on a seven-play, 75-yard drive that was capped off with Borel's 15-yard TD pass to Marsh. USU then scored its first defensive touchdown of the season late in the second quarter as junior DL Antonio May recovered a fumble in the endzone.

Following touchdowns on Oregon's first three possessions of the second-half, Utah State's Peter Caldwell made a 33-yard field goal to start the fourth quarter and USU added another score on Nelson's one-yard TD reception to give the Aggies 24 points. Nelson finished the game with a career-high seven receptions and a career-high 72 receiving yards.

Freshman LB Jordan Glass had a career-best 11 tackles while Taylor had eight stops in the game to lead USU's defense.

Utah State finished the game with 306 yards of total offense (218 passing, 88 rushing), while Oregon had 408 rushing yards and 280 passing yards.

Utah State will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 13 when it hosts 22nd-ranked Utah in its home opener. Kickoff at Romney Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
