LAS CRUCES, N.M. -

-- Senior LB Paul Igboeli made his 37th-consecutive and 37th career start overall, leading USU in both categories... Senior S James Brindley started his 26th career game, while junior OT Spencer Johnson started his 24th career game, which ranks second and third, respectively... Junior QB Diondre Borel made his 14th-consecutive start, ranking second on the team.

-- Senior TE Jeremy Mitchell made his first start of the season and fifth of his career.

-- USU's defense held the opposition without a first down in its opening possession for the fourth time this season with a three-and-out after fumbles in the Utah and BYU games and a three-and-out against Southern Utah.

-- Saturday was the first time that USU did not score on its opening drive this season and snapped its streak of five in a row dating back to last season.

-- Junior P Peter Caldwell's 58-yard punt in the first quarter tied a season-long and was two yards shy of his career long of 60 yards... It was Caldwell's fifth game in a row with at least one 50+ yard punt and was his 14th career game with a 50+ yarder in 19 career games with a punt... It was Caldwell's third game in a row with at least two of over 50 yards and was the fifth sixth in his career with two or more 50+ yard punts.

-- Saturday was the first time this season that USU did not score in the first quarter and in the last six games dating back to last season.

-- Senior PK Chris Ulinski's 34-yard field goal in the second quarter gives him one made FG in all five games this season... USU has made a field goal in the last seven games in a row dating back to last season.

-- After not having a non-QB TD toss since 2000, USU now has two this season, both by sophomore WR Stanley Morrison, with Saturday's 15-yard TD toss from Morrison to senior WR Omar Sawyer... Morrison also had a 29-yard TD pass to Turbin in the Southern Utah game.

-- Saturday was the first time that USU was tied at the half and just the second time in the last four seasons (last year vs. Idaho, 7-7 at half, W 42-17)... USU is now 1-1 in those two occasions.

-- Sophomore RB Robert Turbin not only had a career-high but also topped the 100-yard rushing mark for the fourth time this season.

-- Junior QB Diondre Borel now has a TD pass in four straight games.

-- Senior WR Xavier Bowman has a TD catch in back-to-back games, the first USU receiver to do so this season and just the third in the past two seasons (Otis Nelson and Robert Turbin).

-- Junior CB Curtis Marsh snared his first career interception with the third quarter oskie, becoming the second USU defensive back to do so in as many games (junior S Rajric Coleman vs. BYU).

-- Turbin topped the 1,000-yard milestone for his career with Saturday's career-high 184 yards, becoming the first USU back to reach the 1K career yards mark since David Fiefia (2000-03), who ended his career with 1,193 yards.

-- Saturday was USU's 10th road loss in a row.

-- Saturday was the second time in the last 10 games that USU has lost on a last-second field goal after a 58-yarder by Fresno State to beat USU, 30-28, on Oct. 25.

-- Utah State is now:
- 27-7 vs. New Mexico State - loss snapped two-game win streak in series
- 15-3 vs. NMSU at Las Cruces - loss broke two-game win streak at Las Cruces
