LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's basketball will officially start practice for the 2010-11 season on Sunday, Oct. 3 at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The Aggie women will practice from 8-11 a.m.
Head coach Raegan Pebley is entering her eighth season as head coach at Utah State, which is the longest tenure in the program's history. Five games into the 2007-08 season, Pebley overtook the lead for the most games coached in Utah State history (116). She has now coached 201 games for the blue and white and has 71 wins as Aggie head coach which is first ahead of Fern Gardner (55) on the all-time win list.
The Aggies returns eight letterwinners from the 2009-10 team that went 13-17 and 5-11 in Western Athletic Conference, finishing in seventh. USU returns two starters in senior guard Alice Coddington, and senior forward Amber White. Coddington set a Utah State record for most steals in one game tabbing 13 against Weber State (Dec. 22) and also led the WAC in steals with 75.
White scored in double figures 23 times last season, including scoring over 20 points twice. White also led the team and was 10th in the WAC in scoring averaging 11.6 points per game. For her efforts, she was named all-WAC second team.
This season, the Aggies welcome five newcomers, including junior Reyneisha Mays a transfer from Moorpark College. USU also welcomes junior Maddy Plunkett a transfer from College of Southern Idaho. USU has three true freshmen in Kamie Imai (Pahoa, Hawaii/Walakead HS ), Stephanie Larson (Tustin, Calif./Foothill HS) and Jennifer Schlott (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View HS).
The Aggies begin the 2010-11 season on Friday, Nov. 5 with an exhibition against University of Mary at 5 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Following the women's season opener, the USU men will take on Grand Canyon at 7 p.m. USU opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 12 against in-state rival Dixie State at 4 p.m.
