LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's basketball player Brockeith Pane has been named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Nov. 14, an award that is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
It is the first time in his career that Pane has been named USU's Student-Athlete of the Week.
Pane, a 6-1 junior guard from Dallas, Texas (Carter HS/Midland JC) scored 23 points, including 17 in the second-half, to lead Utah State to a come-from-behind 77-65 win against Weber State last weekend in both team's season opener. Pane, who added five rebounds and four assists, was 6-of-11 from the field and 11-of-13 at the free throw line. Those 23 points are the most by an Aggie newcomer in their USU debut since 1990.
Utah State, who is 1-0 on the season, plays at No. 23 Brigham Young on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised live on the Mtn.
