Aggie Women's Basketball Looks For Fifth-Straight Win Hosting San Francisco Wednesday

TIP OFF - Utah State women's basketball (4-4) will return to its home court after two games on the road as it hosts University of San Francisco (2-5) on Wednesday, Dec, 8 at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The Aggies are 1-2 at home so far this season and looks to even out their home record on the Spectrum hardwoood.

THE OPPONENT - The University of San Francisco women's basketball team (2-5) most recently dropped a 71-38 decision Sunday Dec. 5 to visiting UC Santa Barbara at War Memorial Gym. Vania Singleterry led the Dons with eight points off the bench. The Dons have defeated Rhode Island (Nov. 27, 87-76) and the Aggies conference rival San Jose State (Nov. 15, 71-59). San Fransisco is lead by junior forward Katy Keating who averages, 10.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. The Dons lead the series against the Aggies 2-0.

UP NEXT - Following action against San Francisco, the Aggies will host Idaho State (5-4) on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. in the Spectrum. The game against the Bengals will be a double-header with the Utah State men's basketball team which is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m., hosting Cal State Bakersfield. USU is 13-12 all-time against ISU despite dropping the last four meetings. The last time the Aggies defeated the Bengals was a close, 85-83, win on Nov. 17, 2006.

BABY BOOMERS - The Aggies welcome Baby Boomers on Wednesday and are excited offer anyone over the age of 50 (with an ID) free admission to the game against San Francisco. HOME SWEET HOME - Freshman guard Jennifer Schlott looked right at home playing in her home state of Arizona against Northern Arizona on Dec. 4. She upped her career high from two points to a stunning 13 in the Aggies 80-75 overtime win against the Lumberjacks. Playing in front of her family the freshman led the Aggies at the point adding three steals and rebounds to her final total in only 15 minutes of action. Junior Ashlee Brown, who is also a native of the Grand Canyon State, also played well in front of family. The forward topped her career-high with 26 points against the Lumberjacks in the come-from-behind win. She also added 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. She is the only Aggie to have a double-double this season.

80 POINTS GAMES - Utah State has had two back-to-back 80 point games and is 2-0 in those games, defeating Utah Valley, 80-66 (Dec. 1) and Northern Arizona, 80-75, (Dec. 4) in overtime.

RECORD-SETTING DAY - The Aggies set a school record shooting 60.8 percent from the field against Utah Valley on Dec. 1. The previous record was 58.3 percent against New Mexico State in 1982.

ROAD WARRIORS - USU is 3-2 on the road so far this season. During the 2009-10 season the Aggies went 5-7 on the road overall. The Aggies are only two road-wins away from matching their road wins last year. USU has won its last three road games.

LAST TIME OUT - Arizona natives Jennifer Schlott and Ashlee Brown both scored career highs in the Aggies come-from-behind win against Northern Arizona in Flagstaff Dec. 4, 80-75, in overtime. Schlott scored 13 points in 15 minutes, while Brown led all scorers with 26. Brown also added her second double-double of the season with her 10 rebounds to go along with 26 points.

AROUND THE COURT LENDING A HELPING HAND - Senior guard Alice Coddington is first in the WAC it two separate categories. The guard is first in assists per game, averaging 5.4 assists per game. She has a total of 43 assists this season. Coddington topped her career high in assists for the second-straight game when dished out 11 against Utah Valley on Dec. 1. She added nine against Southern Utah on Nov. 29. Prior to the 20 assists in the last two games, the guard's previous career high was eight against Eastern Washington on Dec. 6, 2008. Coddington also leads the WAC in steals, averaging 3.4 per game and 27 this season.

AGGIES IN THE WAC - Aside from Alice Coddington being first in the WAC in both assists (5.4 apg) and steals (3.4 spg), Ashlee Brown is seventh in the league in scoring, averaging 13.9 ppg. Brown is also eighth in rebounding, averaging 7.6 rpg. As a team, Utah State is second in assists, averaging 16.0 apg. The Aggies are also second in steals with 11.5 spg.

DOING THINGS RIGHT - In the three of the Aggies' wins, Utah State has shot over 70 percent from the free throw line and have shot over 40 percent from three-point line.

WHAT WENT WRONG - In its quartet of losses, Utah State has shot only 54.5 percent from the charity stripe (42-of-77), while only shooting 21.7 percent from three (16-of-60) in the losses. In the losses, USU's opponents led in the assist category 82-58.

BATTLE OF THE BOARDS - Two times this year, Utah State has out-rebounded its opponent, taking the rebound advantage against Utah Valley 27-24 and 46-41 against Northern Arizona.

OTHER AGGIE TIDBITS - • After coming off the bench for the first two games, Ashlee Brown made her first career start against Montana on Nov. 20.

• While Ashlee Brown was sick, senior forward Stacey Howard made her first career start against Dixie State and also started against North Dakota State.

• Sophomore center Banna Diop has started the season strong by scoring in double figures three times, including a career high and team-leading 17 points against Montana. Diop is third on the team with 9.0 ppg and second on the team rebounds with 5.4 per game.

• The Aggies are an international team with players from three different countries, including Australia (Stacey Howard, Alice Coddington and Maddy Plunkett), Senegal (Banna Diop) and 11 players from United States, none of whom are from the state of Utah.

COACH PEBLEY - Head coach Raegan Pebley is in her eighth season as head coach at Utah State, which is the longest tenure in the program's history. Five games into 2007-08 season, Pebley overtook the lead for the most games coached in Utah State history (116). She has now coached 208 games for the blue and white. Pebley now has 75 wins as Aggie head coach which places her above Cindy Perkins (51) on the all-time win list.

BROWN ON THE HARDWOOD - Redshirt junior Ashlee Brown made her first career start Nov. 20, against Montana, as she recovered from an illness that kept her from starting in the Aggies' first two games. She nabbed 16 points and dished out a career-high six assists against Montana.

NEWCOMERS - The Aggies add five newcomers this year from all around the country. Junior transfer Reyneisha Mays joins the squad from Moorpark College (Granada Hills, Calif.) Junior Maddy Plunkett is a transfer from College of Southern Idaho, following in the footsteps of team mate senior LaCale Pringle-Buchanan. The three freshman joining the Aggies this year include Kamie Imai ( Waiakea HS) comes to USU from Pahoa, Hawaii. Jennifer Schlott from Mesa, Ariz. (Mountain View HS) and Stephanie Larson from Tustin, Calif. (Foothill HS).
