Steven Thornton Leaves Utah State's Basketball Team

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's basketball head coach Stew Morrill announced Friday that Steven Thornton has left the Aggie basketball team to move closer to home.

Thornton, a freshman from Valencia, Calif., (Golden Valley HS/Stoneridge Prep) has played in seven games for Utah State this year with two starts and was averaging 2.7 points and 1.3 rebounds in 14.0 minutes per outing.

Thornton, who spent the 2009-10 season playing for Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, Calif., averaged 19.0 points and 5.0 rebounds as a prep senior at Golden Valley (Calif.) High School, earning first-team all-Foothill League honors.

Utah State's next game is at Missouri Valley Conference member Wichita State on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. (MT).
