Final Stats

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis continued their winning ways, defeating Montana State, 5-2, Saturday. The Aggies improve to 5-2 and are off to their best start in five years.

The Aggies once again secured the early point by winning all three doubles matches. Leading Utah State in doubles action were senior's Jakob Asplund and Nikita Ryashchenko who defeated junior Alexander Jewett and freshman Diego Campos Contreras, 8-3. Asplund and Ryashchenko are 5-0 when teamed together; the duo has provided a pivotal spark for the team in doubles play.

Utah State continues to play well in singles action and were able to win four of the six matches played. Senior Alex Thatcher bested Bobcat Jewett in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The win was Thatcher's sixth which leads the team in singles play. Ryashchenko was stretched to the limit in a three-set win over freshman Prithiv Sivasubramanium, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.

"This is a very good team. They always come prepared to play, and they play hard. I feel like the team is playing with a lot confidence right now," said head coach Christian Wright.

Up next, USU will head to Las Vegas, Nev., to play a weekend doubleheader against the UNLV Rebels and the UC Riverside Highlanders.
