LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's soccer won its third-straight match with a 2-0 win over Air Force Tuesday at a sunny and warm Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field. The match was originally scheduled for Oct. 4, but was postponed due to the partial government shutdown.

With the win, the Aggies improved to 9-5-2 overall and 5-2-0 in Mountain West Conference action. Air Force falls to 2-10-2 overall and 1-4-1 in league play.

"All in all, I'm pretty happy with the team's performance. I thought that we could have kept pressuring them a little bit more. I thought we could have broken them a little bit earlier, but we won the first half, we won the second half and those were our objectives. It's a luxury to be able to have subbed as much as I did. Hopefully that will pay off going into New Mexico and San Diego State this weekend because we really have a quick turnaround," USU head coach Heather Cairns said.

Utah State wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the 13th minute. Junior midfielder Lexie Morgan scored her second goal of the season with a blast from just beyond 20 yards. Morgan took a perfectly placed ball from senior forward Mari Miyashiro and delivered it to the upper 90.

The first half ended with the Aggies holding onto the 1-0 advantage. USU out-shot AFA, 8-1, in the first half with five cornerkicks, compared to none by the Falcons.

In the second half, the Falcons came out aggressive with solid passing. Utah State sustained the Air Force attack and regained control.

In the 58th minute, the Aggies put the game out of reach on a play that began with a cornerkick by junior defender Brooke Larsen-Leavitt. The defender's kick found the head of freshman midfielder Lauren Harmon, who then found the foot of junior midfielder Kyle Dibb. The goal was the fourth of the season for Dibb, which ties senior forward Jennifer Flynn for the team lead. The assist was the first collegiate assist for Harmon and the second of the year for Larsen-Leavitt.

Redshirt-freshman Natalie Stoven earned her third-straight shutout in as many matches. The USU defense helped keep Stoven out of harm's way, as the Falcons had only one shot.

For the match, USU out-shot Air Force, 13-1. Dibb and freshman midfielder/forward Jessica Brooksby both had two shots, while 11 different players had shots.

USU will now continue its busy week at home. Utah State concludes the week with home matches against New Mexico on Friday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. and San Diego State on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
