LOGAN, Utah -
Utah State women's track and field athlete Chari Hawkins has been named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, May 12, in an award that is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
It is the second time this year and in her career that Hawkins has received USU student-athlete of the week honors.
Hawkins, a sophomore from Rexburg, Idaho (Madison HS) set the school record for the women's high jump with a winning mark of 1.81m (5-11.25) during a portion of the heptathlon at the 2013 Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend.
Hawkins went on to garner three second-team all-WAC honors, as she placed fifth in the heptathlon (4,990 points), sixth in 100m hurdles (14.08) and tied for sixth in the regular high jump section with a height of 1.67m (5-05.75).
Since the finish of the WAC Championships, select track and field athletes will compete at the first round of the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas beginning Thursday, May 23.

MEN'S TRACK - Senior Tyler Killpack (Ferron, Utah) came from behind to win the 800m with a strong push in the last three yards with a time of 1:51.44 at the 2013 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend. Killpack helped lead the Aggie men to a second-place team finish as they were only six points behind the winning team.
