LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men and women's tennis teams are joining forces for a free tennis clinic on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 1-3 p.m. at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club in Logan.

Tennis fans can play tennis with members of both the men and women's tennis teams, while getting to know the players and new coaches Clancy Shields and Sean McInerney.

The clinic is free and open to players of all ages and abilities. Registration will begin at 12:45 p.m. Prizes will also be awarded following the clinic.

Shields is in his first season at the helm of the Utah State men's tennis team. Shields has spent the last four seasons (2010-13) as an assistant men's tennis coach at Boise State University, helping the Broncos to back-to-back Mountain West Championships in 2012 and 2013. The Broncos, who are currently 20-9 on the season (8-1 MW), advanced to its third NCAA Tournament with Shields on staff this spring.

McInerney is also in his first season at USU after spending the past four years as the head women's tennis coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee earning Horizon League Coach of the Year honors the past two seasons as he led the Panthers to back-to-back third-place conference finishes and its best two-year league win total in school history with 10 victories.
