LOGAN, Utah -

Utah State freshman Kent Myers was one of eight quarterbacks at the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level named a Manning Award Star of the Week, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, it was announced Monday.

Overall, it is the first time that Myers has been honored by the Manning Award.

Myers, a 6-0, 185-pounder from Rowlett, Texas (Sachse HS) had the best game of his career last weekend in Utah State's 41-7 Mountain West home win against San José State as he accounted for four touchdowns, including a career-high three rushing touchdowns from 28, 60 and two yards.

Against San José State, Myers rushed for a season-high 92 yards on just four carries, which included his career-long run of 60 yards. He also completed 15-of-22 passes for 108 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown pass for his fifth touchdown pass of the season. In the game, Myers set season-highs in both pass attempts and completions.

Overall, Myers is the first quarterback in school history in the modern era to rush for three touchdowns in a game. Myers is also the first Aggie with three rushing touchdowns in a game since Joey DeMartino did so at New Mexico last year.

On the season, Myers is 58-of-79 (.734) passing for 639 yards with five touchdowns and one interception in five games. He has also rushed for 197 yards on just 30 carries (6.6 ypr) with three touchdowns, and has helped Utah State to a 4-0 record as a starter.

Joining Myers as Manning Award Stars of the Week are Western Kentucky's Brandon Doughty, Colorado State's Garrett Grayson, Boise State's Grant Hedrick, Old Dominion's Taylor Heinicke, Memphis' Paxton Lynch, Oregon's Marcus Mariota and Mississippi State's Dax Prescott.

College football fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. (MT), the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.

Utah State (9-3, 6-1 MW) concludes its regular season and Mountain West play this weekend at No. 25 Boise State (9-2, 6-1 MW) on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 8:15 p.m., in a game that will be nationally televised on ESPN2. USU is 4-14 all-time against the Broncos, including a 2-7 record on the road.

Utah State enters its contest against the Broncos having won five-straight games and seven of its last eight games overall. USU has also won 13 of its last 14 conference road games and is 13-2 all-time in Mountain West play.
