KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - TEAM NOTES
* Captains for tonight's game are senior FS Brian Suite, senior RB Joe Hill, sophomore OT Jake Simonich and senior DE B.J. Larsen.
* Utah State allowed a first quarter TD for just the seventh time in its last 31 games dating back to the 2011 season. The last time USU allowed two first quarter TD's was in its 2013 season opener at Utah.
* Utah State is now 1-6 in its previous 30 games when trailing at the end of the first quarter and 2-6 when trailing at the end of the first-half.
* Utah State did not score in the first half of a game for the first time since Sept. 25, 2010 at San Diego State. USU's 17-point halftime deficit is its largest since trailing at Hawai'i 28-7 on Nov. 5, 2011.
* Utah State did not force a turnover for the first time in last 24 games dating back to Sept. 22, 2012. Its streak of 23 straight games with forcing at least one turnover was the fourth-longest streak in the nation.
* The 38 points allowed by Utah State are its most since No. 19 Louisiana Tech scored 41 points on Nov. 17, 2012 in a 48-41 USU overtime win.
* The 31 points loss for Utah State is its worst since losing at No. 9 Boise State, 50-14, on Dec. 4, 2010.
* Utah State's three turnovers are its most since committing three turnovers in back-to-back games against BYU and Boise State last season.
* Utah State is now 1-17 all-time against SEC schools.
* Utah State is now 11-6 during its last 17 road games.
* Dating back to last season, USU has now lost five-straight games when rushing less than 40 times as it had just 24 rushing attempts tonight.

* Utah State had eight players making their first career start tonight in sophomore SS Devin Centers, senior TE Jefferson Court, freshman CB Jalen Davis, junior OG Taani Fisilau, junior CB Bryant Hayes, sophomore OT Jake Simonich, sophomore OC Austin Stephens, and senior OG Bill Vavau.
* CB Jalen Davis is the first true freshman to start the opening game of a season for USU since Chuckie Keeton in 2011, and the first true freshman to do so in the defensive backfield in the modern era according to available records.
* Sophomore LB Nick Vigil recorded his first sack of the season and now has 6.5 in his career.
* Junior NG Travis Seefeldt recorded his first sack of the season and now has 3.0 in his career.
* Sophomore LB Nick Vigil had a career-high 15 tackles for his first career double-figure tackle game. Vigil also had 2.0 TFL's to give him 10.5 TFL's in his career.
* Senior LB Zach Vigil had 10 tackles for his 12th career double-figure tackle outing.
* Sophomore S Devin Centers had a career-high nine tackles.
* Junior LB Torrey Green had a career-high four tackles.
* Sophomore PK Jake Thompson missed his first FG attempt of the season from 48 yards and is now 1-of-4 on FG attempts for his career, with the previous three all being from at least 50 yards.
* Senior QB Chuckie Keeton moved into second-place all-time in school history in career completions with 535 as he was 18-of-35 passing. Keeton entered the game tied with Diondre Borel (2007-10) for second with 517 career completions.
* Senior QB Chuckie Keeton moved into fifth-place all-time at USU with 6,105 passing yards as he had 144 passing yards tonight. He entered the game in sixth-place with 5,961 yards and moved ahead of Eric Hipple (1976-79) who had 6,073 passing yards. * Senior QB Chuckie Keeton threw his first TD pass of the season and 59th of his career in the fourth quarter.
* Junior WR JoJo Natson had a career-long rush of 38 yards in the fourth quarter.
* Junior WR Hunter Sharp caught his first-career TD pass from 37 yards.
* Sophomore TE Wyatt Houston tied his career-high with two receptions.
