LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's volleyball hit a season-high .309 (42-8-110) en route to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-15 victory over San José State on Saturday night. The victory marked the fifth consecutive in the series for the Aggies against the Spartans and moved USU to 5-15 on the year and 1-5 in the Mountain West. San José State dropped to 10-9 and 2-4 with the loss.

"All wins feel good," head coach Grayson DuBose said. "I thought we stayed on task and remembered the scouting report tonight. I thought our offense was clicking and our block was good. It was just a complete match."

Utah State only committed two attacking errors in the first set and made the most of 10 attacking errors by San José State to take the frame. The Aggies used a four-point run to break a 7-7 tie, the last deadlock of the stanza, taking an 11-7 lead and never looked back. The Spartans battled back to within one point, 15-14, but Utah State countered with a five-point run to extend the margin to six, 20-14. The Aggies closed out the set with a three-point run, capitalizing on back-to-back errors by SJSU to take the frame, 25-19.

Utah State had to fight from behind in the second set when the Spartans opened the stanza with three straight points. The Aggies took their first lead of the set following a four-point run, digging out of a 13-10 hole and taking a 14-13 advantage. A block by sophomore middle Carly Lenzen extended the run to five points on a solo block and the lead stayed with the Aggies down the stretch. Another block by Lenzen, shared by junior setter Erica Moscoso, and a kill by freshman middle Lauren O'Brien closed out the set for Utah State, 25-21, and put the home side up 2-0.

Utah State jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead in the third set and had a 10-point advantage at 15-5 following a Spartan attacking error. San José State had its fair share of miscues in the frame, hitting -.065 (6-8-31) as USU hit .300 (16-4-40). The advantage allowed the Aggies to roll to a 25-15 victory and extended its winning streak against San José State to five straight.

Junior outside Kaylie Kamalu led the Utah State attack with 11 kills, hitting .200 (11-4-35), and she was followed by Lenzen with a career-high 10 kills, hitting .562 (10-1-16). Lenzen was part of a middle duo, joining O'Brien, that recorded 17 kills and hit .500 (17-1-32), one of the best performances by the Aggie middles this year.

Junior setter Erica Moscoso orchestrated the offense during the match, collecting 31 assists, and was perfect on each of her three dumps, collecting three kills (3-0-3). Sophomore outside Rachel Gale led the Aggies with 13 digs and was followed by junior libero Hannah Gleason with 12. O'Brien, Lenzen and Kamalu all tied for the team lead with four blocks.

"I thought our serving was really good tonight and we were able to keep them out of system," DuBose said. "That made it easy on our block. I thought things just tied together - because we did this well, we were able to block and because we passed well, we were able to hit well."

San José State was left without a player with double-digit kills, as senior outside Tyanna Roy led the team with nine. Sophomore libero Yavianliz Rosado led all players with 17 digs.

Utah State will be back on the road next week, continuing Mountain West play at San Diego State and Nevada on Thursday, Oct. 15, and Saturday, Oct. 17, respectively.
