LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's basketball continued its preseason practice schedule in an intrasquad scrimmage Thursday evening.

With nine newcomers joining the Aggies this season, the preseason scrimmages are providing ample opportunity for the team to become familiar with each other and the playing style at USU. Each player has seen time on the court in different groups and formations as they fight for a spot in the lineup during the coming season.

Senior forward Tijana Djukic was the leading scorer on the night, totalling 17 points. Joining her in double-digit scoring were freshman guard Rachel Brewster with 16, junior forward Angelica de Paulo with 13 and freshman guard Katie Toole with 11. Freshman guard Lindsey Jensen was the team's top rebounder with five.

"All the girls on the team contributed in our third intrasquad scrimmage of the year. I am very happy with the progress we've made in our first two weeks of practice. Newcomers Rachel Brewster, Antoina Robinson and Katie Toole played really well tonight, said USU head coach Jerry Finkbeiner. "We practice Friday and then the girls have the weekend off, which is well-deserved. Our next scrimmage is Tuesday and I look forward to developing our full-court game more in the next few practices in anticipation our first exhibition game."

The Aggies will hold their final fall scrimmage on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8:15 p.m. Utah State practices from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. each day in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. All practices are open to the public.

Utah State opens the season on Saturday, Oct. 31 in an exhibition game against South Dakota School of Mines at 2 p.m. The 2015-16 season will officially begin on Saturday, Nov. 14, when USU hosts Sacramento State at 2 p.m.

A USU women's sports pass is available for $75, giving the owner entry to all home volleyball, women's basketball and gymnastics events.
