Utah State soccer concluded the road portion of the 2015 regular season Sunday, falling to Wyoming, 2-1.
With the loss Utah State falls to 10-8-1 overall this season, with a 5-5-0 Mountain West record. The Cowgirls improve to 9-5-4 on the year, going 5-4-1 in league action.
The Aggies took 10 shots on the afternoon to Wyoming's 13. USU did have more shots on goal with five to the Cowgirls' two, both of which went in the net.
Wyoming picked up the first goal of the day Sunday as leading scorer Shaina Ashouri received a cross from the center of the field, 18 minutes into the match. The remainder of the first half was quiet, sending the Cowgirls into the break with the lead.
With just 10 minutes remaining, freshman forward Sydnie Dolzine scored the equalizing goal for the Aggies, assisted by freshman midfielder Jordyn Chung-Hoon. The comfort of a tie didn't last long though, as Wyoming responded just five minutes later. Kaitlyn Lomsnes, the defending Mountain West Player of the Year, put the Cowgirls back on top, assisted by Ashouri.
Utah State concludes the regular season at home on Friday, Oct. 30, when it hosts Boise State. The Aggies and Broncos will battle at 3 p.m. as both teams look to clinch a spot in the Mountain West Tournament. Prior to the match, USU will honor its senior class in Woller, defender Lexie Henrie-Parrish and undergraduate assistant coach Sara Lorscheider.
