Oct. 30, 2015 LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's basketball (0-0, 0-0 MW) opens the 2015-16 at home in exhibition play this weekend, hosting South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (0-0, 0-0 RMAC) on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.
There will not be a live stream for Saturday's game, but live stats will be available through GameTracker. The game will also be broadcast on 100.9 FM with Craig Hislop on play-by-play.
Playing at the Division II level, the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is located in Rapid City, S.D. The program is entering its first season in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference after spending the last five years as an independent since moving up from the NAIA level prior to the 2010-11 season. Saturday's exhibition match-up will be the first of the year for both teams.
Last year, the Hardrockers finished with a 13-12 overall record. Ryan Larsen is in his third season as the head coach of the SDSMT program, where he has compiled a 23-28 record. The team returns its leading scorer and rebounder in junior center Megan Rohrer. Last season, she averaged 11.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. This will be the first-ever meeting between Utah State and SDSMT.
Utah State returns six letterwinners from last year's squad that finished the season at 8-23, with an 5-13 league record. The Aggies return just one starter from the 2014-15 team, in sophomore guard Funda Nakkasoglu. Last season, Nakkasoglu averaged 17.4 points and 4.7 assists per game.
