Utah State 1, Boise State 1 (2OT)

Utah State soccer played the final match of the 2015 regular season Friday afternoon, fighting Boise State through double-overtime action that ended in a 1-1 draw.

With the tie, Utah State ends the regular season at 10-8-2 overall, with a 5-5-1 Mountain West record. Boise State moves to 7-9-4 overall with the same 5-5-1 conference record. Friday's game was just the second overtime match for the Aggies this season, both of which ended in a draw.

The Aggies fired off a season-high 22 shots in Friday's match, out-shooting the Broncos who had 13. USU also had the on goal shot advantage, just edging out Boise State's nine. Guarding the net for the full game, senior Jeannie Woller's eight saves were the most she tallied since the conference opener against New Mexico. Those eight also pushed her over the triple-digit mark, extending her single-season save record to 107.

The first half was a quiet one for both teams, with neither able to capitalize on its offensive opportunities. Once the teams returned from the halftime break, action escalated quickly.

In the 49th minute, Boise State was the first to score. Kelsey Nicassio received a cross from Jessie Vogel, getting the perfect opportunity to head the ball into the net. The Bronco lead didn't last long though, as the Aggies answered just 25 seconds later. Junior midfielder Katie Flynn crossed the ball across the box to junior forward Jessica Brooksby. Brooksby took just one touch, following through with her 12th goal of the season.

As the match headed into extra time, the physicality and motivation of both teams continued to increase. Utah State had a couple of key opportunities in the first overtime period. On three different occasions, Flynn, sophomore midfielder Wesley Hamblin and freshman forward Sydnie Dolzine received great crosses, but couldn't get quite the right touch, just missing their shots.

Utah State must now wait for the remaining conference games to conclude Friday night to learn if they will qualify for the Mountain West Tournament or not. Should the Aggies make it to the top six of the league, they will play in the first round of tournament action in San Diego on Tuesday, Nov. 3. More information will follow as it becomes available.
