In the midst of a four-match roadswing, Utah State soccer opened its weekend of action in the Silver State Friday, falling to Nevada, 3-1.

With the loss, Utah State falls to 7-6-1 on the year with a 2-3-0 Mountain West ledger. Nevada improves to 4-7-2 overall, picking up its first Mountain West win to go 1-3-1 in league action.

Senior goalkeeper Jeannie Woller guarded the net for the Aggies Friday, picking up five saves. Utah State out-shot the Wolf Pack, 12-11. This was just the fourth match of the year the team tallied more shots than its opponent and the first time doing so since the Aug. 30 match against Houston.

Nevada was first on the scoreboard Friday night, when a free kick landed at the feet of Lindsey Salcido. She was able to redirect the ball into the back right corner of the net to score in the 16th minute. In the final minutes of the first half, the Wolf Pack extended its lead. Rylee Peterson dribbled up the field through several USU defenders, clearing the ball from 25 yards out and over the head of Woller.

The second half didn't start as well as the Aggies hoped, as the Wolf Pack continued to add to its scoring advantage. In the 55th minute of play, a corner kick from Salcido found Hannah Miller who got a head on the ball to push Nevada up, 3-0.

It wasn't until the 62nd minute that the Aggies were able to get on the board. Junior midfielder Jayne Robison scored her fourth goal of the year, running through the Nevada defense on a breakaway ball. After a quick deflection off a Wolf Pack defender, she maintained possession to kick the ball into the top right corner of the net.

The final minutes of the match were full of excitement, as both teams started playing more aggressively. As the clocked ticked down, both teams were on both ends of several fouls and minor injuries. Nevada ended the night with four yellow cards, three of which were issued within three minutes in the last five minutes of the game.

The Aggies continue their Nevada trip later this weekend, as they play at UNLV on Sunday, Oct. 11. Kickoff against the Rebels is set for 2 p.m. (MT).
