UTAH STATE MEN'S BASKETBALL
Post-Game Quotes
vs. Union ââ'¬" Nov. 20, 2015

Utah State Head Coach Tim Duryea:
"I thought we came out in the first half and really did a good job. We had a good week of practice and film. I told our guys at shootaround today that I thought they were going to come out and play well. I was really pleased with our defensive presence. I thought we did a better job with our ball-screen defense. Offensively, we're trying to do the right things, we just haven't been able to get the ball to go in the hole the last couple of games. We shot 26 3s and as a coaching staff, we thought 20 or 21 of them were quality shots. We just have to keep grinding there. As long as we're trying to make the right play, do the right thing and share the ball, I think that will take care of itself. There were a lot of really solid performances tonight, but the thing I was most pleased with was our improvement defensively."

Utah State Senior Guard Chris Smith:
"The ball just wasn't falling tonight and I had to find another way to contribute to the team. It didn't feel right tonight, but I'll get over it. In the second half we didn't play nearly as hard as we did in the first half. We just kind of let up there at the end, but we'll get better at that. As a team, we need to motivate ourselves and find something to fire us up without letting up like that."

Utah State Sophomore Forward Elston Jones:
"We need to keep the mentality like we're behind the whole game. We have to stay competitive, even when we have a huge lead. Defense has been a huge emphasis for us. If we can get that down, we'll be able to win a lot more games than we did last year, especially the close ones. I'm just trying to step up and help my team compete and get better. I want to provide more offense and energy and keep playing hard. I'm starting to get more comfortable as I get more playing time. I know what to expect on the court and our coaches are keeping me positive."

Union Head Coach David Niven:
"I thought it was really important for us to get off to a good start tonight, and obviously we didn't do that. Give credit to Utah State, they're a very good team. Utah State has a lot of depth. They have some long, athletic players that made it difficult for us to get into the paint, and Utah State was ready to play. I was proud of my team for the resilience they showed in the second half. We weren't great in the second half, but we were better. I am really grateful to Coach Duryea and Utah State for giving us the opportunity."
