Utah State Punctuating Three-Match Road Trip on Thursday Night

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's volleyball will punctuate a three-match road swing on Thursday night when the Aggies play at San José State at 7 p.m.

USU enters the match with an overall record of 5-21 and a league mark of 1-11. The Aggies' conference victory this season was against San José State on Oct. 10, in Logan, extending a Utah State winning streak to five matches against the Spartans. Overall, SJSU leads the all-time series 19-18.

Utah State is led offensively by its outside hitters as junior Kaylie Kamalu and sophomore Rachel Gale have recorded 285 and 278 kills and averaged 3.13 and 3.05 per set, respectively. Junior setter Erica Moscoso has directed the attack, totaling 405 assists and averaging 7.94 per set, while the Aggies have hit .159 (1,006-505-3,145) as a team this season.

Defensively, junior libero Hannah Gleason has had one of the top digging performances in USU history, recording 397 digs, which ranks 10th in a single season in school history. Gleason is fifth in the Mountain West, averaging 4.32 digs per set. Sophomore middle Carly Lenzen leads the Aggies in blocks, logging 79 this season, including team highs of seven solo and 72 assists.

San José State is 12-13 on the year, including a 4-8 mark in the Mountain West. The Spartans are in the midst of a two-match losing streak, suffering defeats at New Mexico and Air Force last weekend.

SJSU is led offensively by senior outside Tyanna Roy and sophomore middle Nandyala Gama with 231 and 221 kills on the year, averaging 2.43 and 2.33 kills per set, respectively. The duo has appeared in every set for the Spartans this season. SJSU is hitting .168 (1,170-616-3,303) overall as a team on the year.

Defensively, sophomore libero Yavianliz Rosado leads the Spartans in digs with 336 on the year and is averaging 3.54 per set. Sophomore middle Sara Hibbs paces the SJSU block with 82, averaging 0.92 per set. Hibbs is also third on the team with 216 kills, averaging 2.43 per set. Overall, San José State has held opponents to a .179 (1,056-494-3,138) hitting percentage on the year.

Utah State will return home for two matches next week, hosting Nevada on Thursday, Nov. 12, and San Diego State on Saturday, Nov. 14. Both matches are slated for a 7 p.m. start.
