GAME 2: Utah State vs. UT Rio Grande Valley

Utah State Head Coach Tim Duryea:
"I was really happy for our guys tonight. We did a good job offensively. Like I told them in the locker room after the game, I thought the best stat of the night was 22 assists on 36 made field goals. That's Utah State basketball. I thought we really shared the ball well and made the extra pass. Because of that, we shot a lot of high-quality shots and our percentage reflected that. With 22 assists and five turnovers, that's about all you can ask for as a coach. I thought we were extremely unselfish. We were able to move the ball against man or zone defense. Our guys jumped up and had a lot of confidence and played well. We all like to score points. Point totals aren't something you really talk about, but it's a byproduct of playing the right way and all the things that you do talk about. If you do those things, more often than not, then the scoreboard rings up by itself. Every night out we want to score as many points as you can."

Utah State Senior Guard Chris Smith:
"I think we played really hard tonight. We had a ton of deflections and good defense that led to good offensive flow. Everybody got touches and we had five people in double digits. We just did a good job of playing team basketball. We need to always start out hard in the beginning of the game. Our defense was lagging early on because their offense was really tough. They could all shoot. We got it going at the end though. We'll score on offense, we just need to maker sure to stop them. If we do our part in the zone, we'll be fine."

Utah State Senior Forward Grayson Moore:
"I thought the game went really well, we did a good job on both offense and defense. We didn't take hard shots and were moving the ball around a lot to get the next guy an easy look. We worked a lot of defense this week and I think that showed tonight. We played a solid game on both ends tonight, we just have to come back and do the same thing tomorrow night. The bench was ready tonight. As a whole, we came out with a better defensive pressure tonight. There were not let-downs."

UTRGV Head Coach Dan Hipsher:
"Utah State is a really good team and they showed it with skilled passing and good shooting. After getting an early lead, we weren't good enough offensively to hang with them. In the first half, we had two charges at the basket and two fumbled layups. Those eight points for a team like us are critical. Once they got up by 20 points, it was a free run for Utah State."
