• Utah State will host its 2015-16 Mountain West home opener on Saturday night, facing San Diego State at 8 p.m. Fans can listen to the game on KVNU with Al Lewis providing play-by-play or watch the game live on ESPNU.
• The teams will be meeting for just the eighth time on Saturday night, with San Diego State holding a 4-3 advantage, having won each of the last four games.
• Utah State has won 25 consecutive conference home openers with its last loss coming in the 1988-89 season as a member of the Big West Conference. The Aggies posted a 61-33 victory over San José State in their 2014-15 Mountain West home opener.

• San Diego State and Utah State are first and third in the Mountain West in scoring defense, allowing opponents just 59.8 and 67.3 points per game, respectively.
• Utah State is among the best in field goal percentage in the Mountain West, shooting 45.0 percent (316-of-703) on the year, fourth-best in the league. The success carries on beyond the 3-point line, where USU ranks second in the league, converting 36.8 percent (95-of-258).
• San Diego State has the best defensive field goal percentage in the Mountain West, holding opponents to just 36.1 percent (285-of-790) from the floor.
• Utah State is among the best in the league in distributing the ball, collecting 15.8 assists per game, second-best in the Mountain West. San Diego State is last, averaging 9.8 assists per game.
• Utah State is second in the conference in boxing out, collecting a defensive rebound 74.2 percent of the time (320 defensive rebounds to 111 offensive rebounds to the opposition) on an errant shot by the other team.
Scouting San Diego State
San Diego State is currently 8-6 on the year and 1-0 in the Mountain West after a conference-opening win against Wyoming (67-55). The win against the Cowboys snapped a two-game losing streak for the Aztecs.
Offensively, SDSU is averaging 65.1 points per game and shooting 41.0 percent (299-of-730) from the floor, 30.3 percent (73-of-241) from behind the 3-point line and 69.7 percent (241-of-346) from the free throw line. Freshman guard Jeremy Hemsley is the only Aztec averaging double figures, scoring 13.4 points per game and leading the team with 33 assists.
Defensively, SDSU is allowing a league-best 59.8 points per game while opponents are shooting 36.1 percent (285-of-790) from the floor, 34.5 percent (96-of-278) from behind the 3-point line and 71.3 percent (171-of-240) from the free throw line.
Series History against San Diego State
Utah State and San Diego State have only met seven times, with the Aztecs winning the last four in a row. SDSU is the only team in the Mountain West that the Aggies have not defeated since joining the league prior to the 2013-14 season.
