In the first night of the second half of the conference season, Utah State traveled to Boise State, falling to the Broncos, 94-55.

Freshman guard Funda Nakkasoglu led the Aggies in her fifth 20-point game of the year, tallying 21 on the night. She was the only Utah State player to find the double-digit mark, while senior guard Elise Nelson, senior guard/forward Jasmine Porter and senior forward Ingrida Strikas each added eight points. Nelson was also the top rebounder on the night with seven.

Utah State had just 12 turnovers on the night, far below its season average of 19.2. Sticking to their Mountain West-leading statistics, Boise State shot 48.4 percent (15-of-31) from three, matching a school-record with 15 threes made in the game.

With the loss, Utah State falls 6-16 overall and 3-7 in Mountain West play, while Boise State improves to 14-6 overall and 6-3 in league play with the win.

Wednesday's game opened strong and even for both teams. The Aggies won the tip and were first on the scoreboard, with a 3-pointer from Nakkasoglu. That shot sparked a hot streak from behind the arc on both ends of the court, as the teams shot a combined 6-for-6 in the first nine minutes of the game.

The Broncos used free throws to their advantage down the next stretch slowly building on their lead, while the Aggies didn't have a single trip to the stripe until the 4:48 mark of the first half. The Boise State defense held strong, holding Utah State scoreless for four minutes in the first half, a drought finally ended by a Nakkasgolu jumper.

Unfortunately for the Aggies, Boise State only picked up steam from there, rolling to a 14-0 run before Nakkasgolu got USU back on the board with a pair of free throws. The Broncos continued to gain momentum, doubling up on the Aggies' score with five minutes still remaining in the first half. The teams went into the locker room with Boise State leading 57-27.

Utah State opened the second half on a high note, scoring six-straight. However, Boise State responded with a run of its own, adding another 10 points to its total. The trend of back-and-forth runs continued throughout the remainder of the half. One of Boise State's runs went on for 16 points, highlighted by three treys.

Nakkasoglu led the charge through the second half, tallying 14 of her 21 total points in the second 20 minutes. The Broncos played deep into their bench in the second half, as three players who have seen limited time this season were on the court for several minutes.

Overall, Utah State shot 30.9 percent (21-of-68) from the field, 36.4 percent (4-of-11) from three and 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from the free throw line. Boise State shot 47.7 percent (31-of-65) from the field, 48.4 percent (15-of-31) from three and 81.0 percent (17-of-21) from the free throw line.

The Aggies return home for the weekend, hosting the Lobos of New Mexico. Action from the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7.
