LOGAN, Utah - Four Utah State softball players have earned all-Mountain West accolades, announced by the league Tuesday. Senior outfielder/first baseman Hailey Froton and junior pitcher/designated player Noelle Johnson picked up first-team accolades, while junior outfielder Sarah Chow and sophomore designated player Alleyah Armendariz were named to the second-team.

The four all-conference recognitions are the most for a Utah State team since 1993, when four players earned all-Big West honors. This is also the first time since 1992 that two Utah State outfielders have received all-conference honors in the same season.

"I'd like to congratulate Noelle, Hailey, Sarah and Alleyah for this award and accomplishment," said USU head coach Steve Johnson. "This is a testament to the talent we have here and to the respect the program is getting within the conference as we continue to build a championship team."

Johnson is being recognized for her efforts both in the circle and at the plate. She started 30 games on the mound for the Aggies, while seeing time in 40 games and finishing the season with a 16-16 record. She ended the season ranked third in the Mountain West in both total strikeouts with 131 and innings pitched with 206.1. She was also ranked 10th in the league with a 4.04 ERA. Offensively, Johnson added a lot of power to the batting order, hitting .340 on the season. She was fourth in the league with a .704 slugging percentage and ranked sixth in doubles with 15, leading the team in both categories.

"Noelle not only carried the load for us this season in the circle, but really stepped up on the offensive side as well," Johnson said. "She was in the top 10 in several offensive categories and was able to help her own cause."

This season, Froton broke her own single-season RBI record with 48, tying for sixth in the Mountain West. She also ends her career with the all-time RBI record, bringing in 132 runs. Froton hit .361 on the season, with a team-leading 65 hits. She ended the season ranked among other Mountain West players as she tied for sixth in RBI and tied for seventh in doubles with 14.

"Hailey was a consistent hitter for us throughout the year," Johnson said. "She did a great job in the three hole for us driving in runs at a record pace and was solid for us all year in the middle of our lineup."

Chow led the team at the plate this season, batting .413, the fourth-best single-season batting average in program history. With 64 hits in 155 at bats, Chow ended the season ranked seventh in the conference and 89th nationally. Chow was also the team leader in stolen bases with seven successful attempts on the year.

"Sarah made a tremendous leap this year both at the plate and in the outfield," Johnson said. "She was our leading hitter all year and a true table-setter at the top of our lineup."

Armendariz joined the Aggies as a transfer this season, making an immediate impact at the plate. With 12 home runs, she tied the individual single-season record. As the team's home run leader, Armendariz helped the Aggies break the team single-season record, ending the year with 40. With her powerful batting, Armendariz ended the season ranked third in the league in home runs and was eighth in slugging percentage at .624.

"Alleyah was a force at the plate this season in the middle of our lineup," Johnson said. "She was a true power hitter that consistently came up clutch in key situations."

San Diego State and Fresno State swept the top awards for the conference, as Aztec outfielder Lorena Bauer was named Player of the Year and the Bulldogs' ace Jill Compton was named Pitcher of the Year. Fresno State's junior catcher Paige Gumz was voted Defensive Player of the Year and San Diego State catcher Jenavee Peres was selected as Freshman of the Year. Third-year Fresno State head coach Trisha Ford was named Coach of the Year.

Utah State finished the 2015 season with a 19-36 overall record, while going 11-13 in Mountain West play. After being picked eighth in the pre-season poll, the team finished tied for fifth in the conference. As a team, the Aggies hit .293 on the year with 439 total hits, highlighted by 81 doubles, 14 triples and a program record-breaking 40 home runs. Utah State led the Mountain West in the field with a .962 fielding percentage, committing just 61 errors on the year.
