An extra 20 minutes of playing time wasn't enough for Utah State soccer Sunday, as the Aggies ended the weekend in a 1-1 double overtime draw at Gonzaga.

With the draw, Utah State sits at 3-2-1 on the season, while Gonzaga is now at 1-2-2. Senior goalkeeper Jeannie Woller played the full 110 minutes in the net for the Aggies, putting her season record at 2-2-1. USU allowed a season-high 28 shots from the opponent, taking just 15 shots of its own.

The first half was a quiet one, as neither team was able to find the back of the net. Gonzaga kept control through the half, out-shooting Utah State, 10-4. Despite the high number of shots, the Aggie defense held strong, allowing just two to get near the goal, each of which were saved by Woller. Woller was issued a yellow card during one of the stops, coming out of the box in a one-on-one defense. This was the second yellow card given to a USU player this season.

Action picked up quickly in the second half as both teams scored their goals early on. Junior forward Jessica Brooksby put the Aggies up first, scoring in the 48th minute of play. With an assist from freshman midfielder Jordyn Chung-Hoon, Brooksby struck the ball low, hitting the ball off the left post and into the net. This was Brooksby's third goal of the season, as well as the third USU goal resulting from the combined efforts of Brooksby and Chung-Hoon.

Unfortunately, the Aggie lead didn't last long as Gonzaga evened things up in the 52nd minute on a penalty kick from Kristin Hayman.

Play remained steady and even in overtime action, as both teams fired five shots between the two additional periods. The Aggie defense held staunch with three saves and defending five corner kicks. When neither team scored after the 20 extra minutes, the match ended in the 1-1 draw.

Utah State finishes its three-match roadswing on Thursday, Sept. 10 when it travels to in-state rival No. 9 BYU. The Aggies and Cougars will play at 7 p.m. in a match that will be broadcast on BYUtv. USU then returns home on Sunday, Sept. 13, hosting border foe Idaho State at 1 p.m.
