MALIBU, Calif. - Utah State men's tennis junior Jaime Barajas competed at the Oracle/ITA Masters tournament in Malibu, Calif., hosted by Pepperdine University.
The tournament started with mixed doubles play, where Barajas teamed up with senior women's tennis player from College of Charleston Liza Fieldsend. The duo fell against Kentucky's Ryotaro Matsumura and Duke's Meible Chi in a close match, 6-3.
Barajas then prepared for singles after a break. Barajas gave UCLA's Martin Redlicki, the No. 20-ranked player in the country, all he could handle in the first set, before ultimately falling, 7-6 (3), 6-2.
Barajas will play in the consolation bracket tomorrow, as he faces Lamar's Michael Feucht.
