Oct. 6, 2016 LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer (7-5-0, 3-1-0 MW) returns home to Chuck & Gloria Bell Field for the first of two weekend matches, hosting Fresno State (6-5-1, 1-2-1 MW) on Friday, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m.
Friday's match will be Utah State's annual pink game for cancer awareness. The Aggies will include pink highlights with their regular uniforms. The event will tie in to the weekly Freebie Friday promotion, with the first 100 fans in attendance receiving a free pink USU soccer T-shirt.
This season's home and Mountain West action will continue to be broadcast online through the Aggie Digital Network and the Mountain West Network. Fans can watch every Utah State home match, as well as every conference match in Logan or on the road. Live stats and play-by-play information will be available through GameTracker, while updates will also be provided through the team's social media outlets.
Fresno State enters the third week of conference play with a 6-5-1 overall record, going 1-2-1 against Mountain West opponents. Last weekend, the Bulldogs battled San Diego State to a 1-1 double-overtime draw and defeated New Mexico, 3-0.
Junior forward Myra Delgadillo leads Fresno State in scoring with six goals and seven assists for 19 total points, ranking second in the Mountain West in all three categories. Sophomore Nicole Theroux has played the majority of the time in the net for the Bulldogs, allowing 10 goals while tallying 27 saves. On the year, Fresno State has scored 19 goals, allowing 20 from its opponents. Brian Zwaschka is in his eighth season as the Bulldogs' head coach, where he has an overall record of 55-79-19.
Fresno State returns nine starters and 12 total letterwinners from last year's team that finished the year with a 5-12-1 record. The 2015 team went 4-6-1 in conference play to finish ninth in the Mountain West. All-time, Utah State is 4-8-3 against the Bulldogs, dating back to the 1999 season. The teams played together in the Western Athletic Conference before Fresno State joined the Mountain West in 2012, followed by the Aggies in 2013. Last season, Utah State won the match-up, 3-2, in Fresno.
For the Aggies, senior forward Jessica Brooksby leads the team in scoring with five goals and six assists, while junior forward Wesley Hamblin also has six goals, adding two assists. Redshirt sophomore Grace McGuire has spent the majority of time in the net for Utah State, allowing 11 goals while tallying 49 saves.
