Recap | Box Score | Notes

Utah State Head Coach Tim Duryea
"I told our guys in a timeout that tonight we flip the script, tonight we take the lead and tonight we finish. We did that and we made defensive stops, throwing the kitchen sink at them (New Mexico) defensively. We played man-to-man, zone, and we played our triangle-and-two on them. Tim Williams was amazing. We were going to double him with our point guard because he is so used to seeing the other post guy come and double. Williams does a great job getting the ball to the weak side where the shooters are. We wanted to double off of the point guard, making Williams throw it out to him and close out because he's not really a shooter."

Senior Wing Jalen Moore
"It was one of our better games. We played well on both ends of the court. (Tim) Williams and (Elijah) Brown got it going a little bit, Williams was killing us, but we stopped most of the other guys and that's what got us the win. We played good team ball. It feels good to get back on the winning track."

Freshman Guard Sam Merrill
"It feels good to get a win. That's a good New Mexico team. We showed a lot of grit there in the second half. Tim Williams is a really good player. He made a couple of tough shots in the first half, but we weren't doing what we were supposed to be doing. He was getting the ball way down low. We are proud of Alex (Dargenton) and Quinn (Taylor) for the way they stepped up in the second half. That was a good finish. In the second half we played a lot better on defense and kept the ball moving on offense. It feels good to get that win."

New Mexico Head Coach Craig Neal
"It's a difficult venue and a hard place to play, but nobody came and we have to take advantage of that. We can't let a team that's second-to-last in the league in offensive rebounds have 19 second-chance points. Our guys had a very mature approach against San Diego State, but I thought they had a very immature approach in the second half of this game. We can't allow a team that's scrapping and trying to get their first conference win to score 79 points."
