Utah State Soccer Closing Weekend Against Air Force Sunday

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer (6-5-2, 1-3-1 MW) will wrap-up its four-game homestand on Sunday, Oct. 8, when it hosts Air Force (6-4-2, 3-0-2 MW) in a 1 p.m match.

Sunday's match will be Utah State's annual cancer awareness game. The Aggies will be honoring Stacee Flygare, a USU soccer alum, who is a breast cancer survivor. The first 100 fans in attendance will receive a pink USU soccer T-shirt.

All Mountain West matches will continue to be broadcast as a USU Athletics Production on the Mountain West Network. All video feeds will be available live and in archive form at utahstateaggies.com/watch. Live stats and play-by-play information will be available through GameTracker, while updates will also be provided through the team's social media outlets. Links to each option will be available online prior to every match.

Air Force enters the weekend with a 6-4-2 overall record, while leading the Mountain West with a 3-0-2 record against conference opponents. The Falcons opened conference play in a 1-1 draw against Colorado State, going on to defeat Wyoming, Nevada and UNLV. Air Force opened the weekend in a 1- draw at Boise State. Senior forward Brooke Rittman leads the Falcons with five goals on the year, while junior forward Taylor Cobb has had four assists. Junior Jennifer Hiddink has played the entirety of the season in the goal for Air Force, tallying 59 saves and allowing 10 goals. The Falcons return nine starters and 17 total letterwinners from last season's team that went 7-9-2 overall and 3-7-1 in Mountain West play. Larry Friend is in his ninth season as the head coach at Air Force, where he has a 49-93-17 record.

All-time, Utah State is 5-1-1 against Air Force. The Aggies have won the last two contests against the Falcons, including a 1-0 overtime victory at the Academy last season. Utah State is 2-0 against Air Force in matches played at Chuck & Gloria Bell Field.

For the Aggies, freshman midfielder Ashley Cardozo is the leading scorer, netting six goals so far this season, while senior forward Wesley Hamblin leads with four assists. Senior Sara Cobb leads the goalkeepers with 61 saves and 15 goals allowed over the year, earning a 1.13 goals against average.
