Box Score

BOISE, Idaho - Utah State women's volleyball lost a three-set decision at Boise State on Tuesday night, moving to 14-13 on the year and 6-9 in the Mountain West. The Aggies never settled into an offensive groove during the match, hitting .055 (22-18-73) to Boise State's .408 (41-10-76).

Senior outside Lauren Anderson led the Aggies with nine kills, marking just the third time this season that the Aggies have been held without a double-digit attacker. Junior libero Tasia Taylor led all players during the contest with 12 digs.

Boise State scored each of the first three points in the opening set, taking a lead that the home side never relinquished. Utah State came within one point at 5-4 and 9-8 behind a kill by Anderson and a block by senior opposite Kayla DeCoursey and freshman middle Bailey Downing. The Aggies came within one again at 10-9, following a Boise State service error, but the Broncos closed the set on a 15-6 run, taking the frame, 25-15.

The Broncos jumped out to another quick lead in the second set, scoring the opening five points and building a 5-0 advantage. BSU never let go of the lead and had its first set point at 24-11, but the Aggies fought off two set points behind errors by the Broncos. However, a final kill by Boise State punctuated the set for the home side, 25-13.

Boise State continued to follow the trend of the match at the beginning of the third set, scoring the first two, but Utah State flipped the script with a three-point run, taking a 3-2 lead behind a kill by DeCoursey and service ace by Taylor. The teams then played through four ties, culminating in an 8-8 deadlock. Boise State then created some separation with a 7-2 run, taking a 15-10 lead and maintained the advantage throughout the set. The Broncos logged back-to-back points over the final two rallies to close out the match, 25-15.

BSU senior Sierra Nobley led the Broncos with 10 kills, hitting .400 (10-2-20), as the top three hitters for the home side all hit .400 or better. BSU setter Jaymee-Lee Bulda logged 32 assists on 41 Boise State kills, and senior libero Maddi Osburn led the BSU back row with 11 digs.

Utah State will be back in action on Saturday, hosting Air Force on Kirby Court at the Wayne Estes Center at 7 p.m.
