USU Soccer Playing at New Mexico Sunday

Aggies and Lobos both coming off double-overtime draws

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State soccer (2-9-1, 1-3-1 MW) continues its weekend on the road as it plays at New Mexico (6-5-1, 2-2-1 MW) on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. 

All regular-season home and Mountain West matches will continue to be broadcast as a USU Athletics Production on the Mountain West Network. All video feeds will be available live and in archive form at utahstateaggies.com/watch. Live stats and play-by-play information will be available through SIDEARM, while updates will also be provided through the team's social media outlets. Links to each option will be available online prior to every match.

New Mexico welcomes the Aggies to Albuquerque with a 6-5-1 record, having gone 2-2-1 against Mountain West opponents. Like the Aggies, the Lobos opened the weekend with a 2-2 draw, battling Boise State in double overtime. Freshman forward Alesia Garcia leads the Lobo offense with five goals this season, while junior midfielder Jennifer Muñoz has a team-high three assists. Junior goalkeeper Emily Johnson has played the majority of minutes in the net, while the team's two keepers together have tallied 57 saves and allowed 15 goals. 

Heather Dyche is in her fourth season as the head coach at New Mexico, where she has an all-time record of 36-27-8. New Mexico leads the all-time series against the Aggies, 3-1-2, with each meeting coming since Utah State joined the Mountain West. USU's sole win over the Lobos came in 2014. The Aggies did advance over New Mexico in the 2013 Mountain West Tournament, advancing on penalty kicks after a scoreless draw. 

For the Aggies, freshman forward Sara Noel leads the team with four goals on the season, while sophomore midfielder Ashley Cardozo has four assists. Senior goalkeeper Grace McGuire has played the majority of time in the net, tallying 48 saves and allowing 17 goals.
