Post-Match Quotes

USU head coach James Wilson:
On the match:
"We got off to a good start in doubles. It was a bit of a struggle early on, there were some shifts in momentum, but in the big moments, we were able to come through. That really helped us. We got a lot of momentum from the doubles. In singles play, Sammy (Serrano) played very well, played a complete match, didn't give anything away, just did a really good job. Sergiu (Bucur) was able to keep it together well, did a good job. I didn't see much of Jose (Carvajal), but he had a really good start and was able to finish it off. That was great."
On earning the first Mountain West win of the season:
"It's good. It's really early. This was a rescheduled match, so it's kind of strange playing in February. None the less, it's a good start and, hopefully, we can keep building on it."
USU junior Samuel Serrano:
On the match:
"I felt pretty good today. Since the warm up, my shots and everything were pretty solid. The doubles win went very nice. We played solid. We stayed positive the whole way. Even though the courts were pretty tight, we ended pulling the win. Then in singles, I started pretty strong. I just didn't miss that much at the beginning. (Boise State junior Kyle Butters) probably didn't have a good start, he kept missing and I took an easy lead from the beginning. I was up 5-2 then 6-3, and then 4-1 in the second set and got the win, 6-3, 6-2. It was good.
"Throughout the whole game on the other courts, it was very nice, too. The guys were solid. Everybody was really into it. Nobody was letting the team down or anything. Everybody was playing well."
On earning the first Mountain West win of the season:
"It's good. We had a good week of practice, so we knew that we were going to come out pretty solid, step on them and bring them all the energy we had. These conference matches, they're always very important."
