Utah State softball opened its weekend in an 8-0 loss at UNLV Friday.

Sophomore Kellie White pitched the majority of the game Friday, while senior Jordyn McCracken came in to relieve her for the final out. Offensively, senior outfielder Emily Hunter had Utah State's only two hits of the night, as she went 2-for-3 at the plate.

With the loss, Utah State falls to 10-16 overall and 0-4 in Mountain West play. UNLV improves to 20-8 overall and 3-1 in league action.

Hunter led-off the game with her first single, a one-pitch hit delivered to left field. Sophomore outfielder Riley Plogger drew a walk, but the top half of the inning ended on a fielder's choice after two Aggies struck out.

UNLV went on to score in each inning of the game. The first two runs came in the bottom of the first after a pair of doubles brought runners home. The Rebels added two more in the second, putting up three-straight singles and another double before the USU defense made three outs in a row.

Hunter got her second hit of the game in the top of the third, but was the only runner to get on base. UNLV added a sole run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single brought a runner in from second. That batter was out on the play trying to turn the hit into a double. The Aggie offense went down in order for the second time in the top of the fourth, while the Rebels added another three runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 8-0. When Utah State was unable to plate a run in the fifth, the game ended in UNLV's favor.

On the night, UNLV tallied 14 hits to Utah State's two. The Rebels had the only error in the game.

The Aggies and Rebels will continue their series on Saturday, March 24, at 5 p.m. (MT). The weekend will conclude with a noon contest on Sunday, March 25.
