With six games scheduled over four days, Utah State softball started its week with a 2-0 win at Pacific Wednesday.

Sophomore Kellie White pitched the complete game Wednesday, striking out three batters while allowing three hits and four walks. Utah State had four hits in the win, each coming from a different player. Senior catcher Brina Buttacavoli brought in both runs with her single in the top of the first.

With the win, Utah State improves to 8-7 on the season, while Pacific falls to 8-10 overall.

Though the scoring was limited, the Aggies took the lead early, scoring both runs of the night in the top of the first. Senior outfielder Jazmin Clarke and freshman outfielder Leah Molina led off with back-to-back walks. Clarke stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch, while Molina also stole a base. After two strikeouts, Buttacavoli singled through the right side to bring both runners home.

Utah State was retired in order in the second and fifth innings, but had at least one base runner in each of the other trips to the plate.

The Aggie defense didn't allow a hit until the bottom of the fourth inning, though Pacific got three runners on through a pair of walks and a hit by pitch. The Tigers' best chance came in the bottom of the sixth, as they loaded the bases. White came through with a swinging strikeout to get out of the jam and keep Pacific off the board.

In all, Utah State out-hit Pacific, 4-3, while each team had one error in the game.

The Aggies now head an hour north up the interstate to take on a weekend slate at UC Davis. Utah State will open play at the Aggie Invitational against UC Davis on Thursday, March 8, at 4 p.m. (MT). The team will then play a Friday doubleheader against Valparaiso and Northern Colorado at noon and 2:15 p.m., respectively. The weekend will end with a pair of games on Saturday against Northern Colorado at 10 a.m. and UC Davis at noon.
