June 14, 2018 LOGAN, Utah - Utah State head men's tennis coach James Wilson has announced the addition of Duro Opacic, a junior college All-American, to the 2018-19 roster. Opacic will have two years of eligibility after spending his first two years at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kan.
"I'm really excited about Duro joining our program this fall," Wilson said. "He has had a very successful career in JuCo, and his experience of knowing how to win, will be crucial for our team. I know he has high aspirations and wants to build off his already stellar collegiate career and we are hopefully going to achieve those goals."
Opacic, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, earned All-American honors for the Saints after finishing with a 19-2 record in singles, playing at the top two spots in the lineup. He helped the team to a top-three finish in the junior college ranks and rose to as high as No. 9 individually among junior college players.
"I'm extremely happy and proud to say that I'll continue my tennis career and education at Utah State," Opacic said. "I'm sure I'm going to a successful team, a team full of high goals and I can just promise that I'll give my best to make this team even better. Go Aggies!"
In addition to Utah State, Opacic was recruited by Baylor, Texas A&M, Washington, East Tennessee State and Wichita State.
