LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head men's basketball coach Craig Smith has announced the signing of Neemias Queta for the 2018-19 season. The 6-foot-11 post will have four years to play with the Aggies and is coming to Logan after having played with the Portuguese U20 and U18 national teams.

"We are thrilled that Neemias is joining the Aggie family," Smith said. "Neemias is a very talented player and a fantastic person. He fits our culture in that he loves being in the gym, has a tremendous desire to win, and is a terrific teammate. Neemias immediately brings length, athleticism, and rim protection to the Aggies, while he continues to develop his offensive game."

Queta most recently played with Portugal's U20 team at the European Championships, where he finished second on the team with 14.3 points per game and paced the Portuguese side with 10.3 rebounds per game. He had a pair of double-doubles during the tournament, including a near-triple-double against the Netherlands, scoring 20 points, pulling down 14 rebounds and blocking nine shots. In the final game of the tournament against Hungary, Queta led all players on the floor with 27 points and 13 rebounds.

During the U18 European Championships, Queta finished third on the team with 10.2 points per game and led Portugal with 8.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. In addition to his national team performances, Queta played club with SL Benfica B during the 2017-18 season.
