EAST LANSING, MICH. – Utah State will open the 2018 season with a road game for the seventh time in the last 10 seasons and 61st time in program history as the Aggies will play at No. 11 Michigan State on Friday, Aug. 31, at 5 p.m. (MT). This is the first-ever meeting between the Spartans and Aggies.
WATCH LIVE: The season opener for both teams will be nationally televised on the Big Ten Network (Dish Network Ch. 205; DirecTV Ch. 610) with Brandon Gaudin (play-by-play), Glen Mason (analyst) and Elise Menaker (sideline reporter) on the call.

BOWLING: No. 11 Michigan State is one of five teams on Utah State's schedule that played in a bowl game a year ago as the Spartans defeated Washington State 42-17 in the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl.
NO. 2: Utah State is playing just its second-ever football game in the state of Michigan on Friday. The Aggies posted a 65-22 win at Western Michigan (Kalamazoo) during the 1961 campaign.
RARE SOD: Utah State is opening the season by playing on natural grass at Spartan Stadium, marking one of just two games during the year that the Aggies will play on that surface. The other contest will be against BYU on Oct. 5 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The last time USU played a game on natural grass was in 2016, when it concluded its season against the Cougars in Provo.
