VB NOTES - USU Volleyball Back at Home, Hosting Weber state

Utah State volleyball faces its second of two in-state opponents this season when the Aggies host Weber State on Friday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m.  USU is 37-19 overall against the Wildcats, including seven-straight victories for the Aggies. Utah State has won each of the past three matches in Logan.

Scouting the Wildcats
Weber State is 4-3 on the year and winners of three of its last four matches, including a five-set victory at Utah Valley on Tuesday night.
 
The Wildcat attack is hitting .234 (352-123-978), led by senior Andrea Hale with 106 kills, averaging 3.79 per set. Sophomore setter Ashlyn Power directs the offense, totaling 297 assists and averaging 10.61 assists per set.
 
Defensively, sophomore Rylin Roberts leads the WSU back row with 117 digs, averaging 4.18 per set. Junior middle Hannah Hill-DeYoung and junior middle Megan Gneiting lead the Wildcat block, averaging 1.32 and 1.04 blocks per set, respectively. Opponents are hitting .195 (381-168-1,093) against Weber State this season.

Weber State head coach Jeremiah Larsen was a long-time assistant at Utah State, serving as an assistant under USU head coach Grayson DuBose from 2011-14.
 
Quick Starts Lead to Wins
Utah State has had the most success this season when winning the first set, with both of the Aggies victories this season coming when USU grabs an early lead.
 
Double-Double Leader
Senior setter Kassidy Johnson leads the Aggies this season with four double-doubles. Johnson leads every current USU player on the roster with 13 career double-doubles and ranks No. 8 among active players in the MW.
 
Blocking Double-Double
Freshman middle Corinne Larsen recorded her first career double-double against Milwaukee on Sept. 8, marking the first double-double by a Utah State middle since the 2014 season.
 
Marathon Aggies
Utah State has played five five-set matches this season, including three straight during the Kalamazoo Conference Center Tournament last weekend. The stretch marked the first back-to-back-to-back five-set matches for the Aggies since the 2014 season.
 
Balanced Attack
Utah State's attack has featured three players with double-digit kills in each of the last three matches. Furthermore, the kills have come from a different combination of players in all three matches.
 
Tenured Helmsman
Head coach Grayson DuBose is the longest-tenured head coach in USU volleyball history, beginning his 13th year in 2018. Furthermore, DuBose is the second-longest tenured head coach in the Mountain West, second only to Tom Hilbert at Colorado State.
 
Aggie Road Trip
DuBose's tenure has included opponents from 34 of 50 states, including first-time opponents from Michigan and Wisconsin last weekend.
