LOGAN, Utah – Utah State soccer continued its homestand in a 2-0 loss to Eastern Washington Friday.
Utah State falls to 1-5-0 on the season, while Eastern Washington improves to 4-3-1 with the win.
The Aggies had a couple of good chances in the early minutes of the match, but Eastern Washington first found the back of the net in the 22nd minute. A short pass found the player in the penalty box, where she worked her way around the USU defenders.
Both teams were forced to play down a player from the 69th minute, as a red card was doled out to a player on each side. Additionally, Eastern Washington was given another pair of yellow cards in the match, with one then and another in the 79th minute of play. The Eagles added their second goal in the second half, rebounding the ball off a Utah State defender and scoring on just two touches.
In all, Eastern Washington took 17 shots to Utah State's eight, including a 9-4 on goal advantage. Freshman goalkeeper
Rachel Noel made her first-career start in Friday's match, recording seven saves on the day.
Utah State will wrap-up non-conference play as it hosts UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, Sept. 16, at noon.
