Utah State volleyball will play the first of two in-state matches on Tuesday night, traveling to Orem to face Utah Valley at 6 o'clock.

Scouting the Wolverines
Utah State is currently 4-3 on the year, having won three of its last four, including back-to-back matches over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Long Beach State.

UVU is hitting .200 (317-137-901) as a team and led by freshman outside Kazna Tarawhiti with 94 kills, averaging 4.09 per set. The Wolverines have had three setters all share time with junior Madi Wardle leading the way with 127 assists, averaging 5.77 per set, followed by Utah State-sophomore transfer Jaysa Funk-Stratton with 88, and freshman BriAnne Mortensen with 49.

Defensively, sophomore libero Seren Merrill leads the Wolverines with 71 digs, averaging 2.96 per set. Junior middle Makaila Jarema leads the UVU block with 23, averaging 1.44 per set. Teams are hitting .205 (322-138-898) against Utah Valley this season.

The Series Against Utah Valley
Utah State leads the all-time series against Utah Valley, 11-7, and has won two of the last three matches. The Aggies are 4-3 all-time in Orem and beat the Wolverines in four sets (26-24, 6-25, 25-16, 25-20) the last time the teams played in Utah County.

Utah State is 92-115 (.444) all-time against opponents from the Beehive State. USU is 25-46 all-time against Utah, 16-41 all-time against BYU, 3-2 all-time against Southern Utah, 11-7 all-time against Utah Valley and 37-19 all-time against Weber State.

USU Invitational All-Tournament
Senior setter Kassidy Johnson was named to the USU Invitational all-tournament team after totaling 93 assists and averaging 10.33 per set. Johnson logged a career-high seven blocks against Loyola Marymount en route to eight total blocks during the week. Johnson also recorded 18 digs, averaging 2.00 per set, and four kills during the week.

Mountain West Leaders
Utah State is ranked third in the league in blocks per set, averaging 2.57 per frame. Individually, senior middle Lauren O'Brien leads the MW with a .460 hitting percentage (49-9-87). Senior libero Tasia Taylor is fourth in the league in digs per set, averaging 4.39, and senior setter Kassidy Johnson is fourth in assists per set (9.65). O'Brien ranks third in the MW in blocks per set (1.40), while freshman middle Corinne Larsen is fifth, averaging 1.32 blocks per set.

Top Blockers
Utah State is the only team in the Mountain West with two players ranked among the top five in the league in blocks per set, in senior middle Lauren O'Brien (3rd, 1.40 bps) and freshman middle Corinne Larsen (5th, 1.32).

Redshirt junior outside Ally Packard has recorded at least one service ace in five of the Aggies first six matches this season.

Familiar Faces in New Places
Junior-transfer right side Izzie Hinton-Belnap will be making her return trip to Orem on Tuesday when the Aggies face Utah Valley. Hinton-Belnap was a two-year starter for the Wolverines before joining the Aggies last spring. The match will also feature a familiar face on the UVU side, as Utah State-transfer Jaysa Funk-Stratton is now playing for the Wolverines at setter.
