LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's basketball (9-7, 4-1 Mountain West) is off to its best start in conference play since the 2011-12 season, when the Aggies opened 6-1 in the WAC, after a dominating 82-49 victory over San José State (1-14, 0-4 MW) Wednesday in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Junior guard/forward Shannon Dufficy continued her double-double streak with her sixth consecutive double-double at a career-high-tying 24 points and 10 rebounds. Dufficy's streak is the longest by an Aggie since the reinstatement of the women's basketball program in 2003, while her 22 career double-doubles ties Ashlee Brown for the most double-doubles in that same time. Junior guard/forward Hailey Bassett posted a near double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

After the Spartans opened the game with the first points of the day, senior center Deja Mason scored the first buckets for the Aggies at the 6:04 mark in the first quarter to cut SJSU's lead to 4-2. A Dufficy layup and trey from junior guard Olivia West tied it up at 10 with 3:25 to go. San José State then took an 18-12 lead with 49 seconds to play, but a Dufficy layup and three from sophomore guard Emmie Harris brought the Aggies within one, 18-17, at the end of the period.

USU came out hot in the second quarter, outscoring the Spartans, 29-8. Utah State opened the stanza with back-to-back layups from Dufficy and senior guard Rachel Brewster, followed by back-to-back 3-pointers from freshman guard Steph Gorman and Dufficy to lead, 27-18, with 7:06 on the clock. After a SJSU layup, USU used an 11-0 run to lead, 41-22, with 2:11 remaining. A triple from Dufficy extended USU's lead to 20, 46-26, heading into the break.

The Aggies opened the third quarter with a 7-0 run to lead, 53-26, with 7:38 remaining after a Bassett jumper, Dufficy three and a Bassett layup. USU extended the lead to 30, 61-31, with 2:17 to play. The teams went back-and-forth to end the quarter as USU led, 65-36, at the end of the period.

The teams traded buckets in the final stanza until a Harris triple and a layup from junior forward Marlene Aniambossou extended the lead to 32, 74-42, with 5:06 remaining. The Aggies maintained their lead for the remainder of the period, with a layup from junior guard Lindsey Jensen-Baker securing the 82-49 Utah State victory.

San José State was led by sophomore guard Megan Anderson with 11 points, while senior forward Andrea Kohlhaas had a team-high five rebounds.

Utah State shot 47.1 percent (33-of-70) from the floor, 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from behind the arc and 57.1 percent (4-of-7) at the free throw line. San José State was 29.1 percent (16-of-55) from the floor, 31.0 percent (9-of-29) from the 3-point line and 66.7 percent (8-of-12) at the free throw line.

Utah State next travels to Fort Collins, Colo., to take on Colorado State (7-8, 1-3 MW) on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m.
