FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Utah State women's basketball (10-7, 5-1 Mountain West) defeated Colorado State (7-9, 1-4 MW), 72-53, Saturday afternoon for its first road win in Fort Collins since 1980.
The Aggies, who outrebounded the Ram 45-20, were led by junior guard/forwards
Shannon Dufficy and
Hailey Bassett with 12 boards each. Dufficy recorded her seventh consecutive double-double, which ties for the longest streak in program history, as she added 14 points. Bassett posted her second career double-double as she scored 18 points. Junior guard
Eliza West added 11 points and seven assists.
An early 6-0 Aggie run gave USU the 8-2 lead. Colorado State countered with a 7-0 run to lead 9-8. The Aggies then got baskets from senior guard
Rachel Brewster and Bassett, followed by a West trey to give Utah State the 17-11 edge after one quarter.

Steph Gorman and a Bassett jumper put Utah State up 22-13 early in the second quarter. The Aggies extended the lead to 16 at 36-20 after a barrage of threes from West and sophomore guard
Emmie Harris. After a CSU layup, USU used a 7-0 run to lead 43-22 and took a 45-23 advantage into the locker room following a Bassett layup.
Utah State and Colorado State found themselves trading buckets in the third quarter. A Bassett layup and Dufficy trey gave USU the 27-point advantage at 54-27, before Colorado State trimmed the lead to 22 at 59-37 at the end of the period.
Colorado State cut the lead to 20 at 61-41 early in the fourth quarter. However, a couple of jumpers from Brewster and Dufficy gave Utah State the 65-41 lead with 5:05 left to play. After a Ram three, a Dufficy and-1 and free throws from junior guard
Lindsey Jensen-Baker put the Aggies up 70-44 with 3:47 to go. Junior forward
Marlene Aniambossou scored the final points for the Aggies as USU won, 72-53.
Colorado State was led by redshirt sophomore guard Grace Colaivalu with 20 points, six assists and five rebounds.
Utah State shot 50.0 percent (29-of-58) from the floor, 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from behind the arc and 66.7 percent (6-of-9) at the free throw line. Colorado State shot 38.8 percent (19-of-49) from the field, 29.4 percent (5-of-17) from the 3-point line and 62.5 percent (10-of-16) at the free throw line.
The Aggies next host New Mexico (15-2, 5-1 MW) on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m., in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
