SAN JOSE, Calif. - Utah State women's basketball (10-9, 5-3 Mountain West) lost, 68-59, to San José State (2-17, 1-7 MW) Wednesday at The Event Center in San Jose, Calif.

Junior guard/forward Shannon Dufficy recorded her school-record ninth consecutive double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Three other Aggies scored in double figures as junior guard Olivia West had 11 points, senior guard Rachel Brewster had 10 points and junior forward Marlene Aniambossou also had 10 points.

The Aggies took a 4-0 lead after layups from Dufficy and Brewster. After some back-and-forth play between the teams, SJSU tied it up at 15-15. Senior center Deja Mason then knocked down a free throw to give USU the 16-15 edge at the end of the period.

Utah State extended its let to six at 26-20 with 5:16 to go in the second quarter after layups from Dufficy, West and freshman guard Steph Gorman, along with free throws from Brewster. The Spartans took a 27-26 lead after a 7-0 run with 1:47 on the clock. After a West trey and a free throw from junior guard/forward Hailey Bassett put the Aggies back on top, 30-27, San José State hit a jumper to make it a one-point game, 30-29, at the break.

San José State opened the third period with a 9-0 run before a trey from sophomore guard Emmie Harris and an Aniambossou layup cut the Spartans' lead to four at 39-35. After SJSU took a 43-37 lead, a Dufficy layup and Aniambossou jumper cut the lead to two, 43-41, at the end of the stanza.

Mason free throws and a West triple put the Aggies up three, 46-43, with 7:04 to go in the final period. After trading buckets, San José State used an 8-0 run to lead, 55-50, with 3:57 remaining. After an Aniambossou layup cut the lead to three at 55-52, the Spartans extended their lead back out to nine at 61-52 with 1:43 to play. The Aggies were unable to overcome the deficit, losing 68-59.

San José State was led by sophomore guard Danae Marquez with 21 points and freshman guard Raziya Potter with 16 points.

Utah State shot 33.3 percent (24-of-72) from the floor, 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from the 3-point line and 50.0 percent (6-of-12) at the free throw line. San José State was 40.7 percent (24-of-59) from the field, 25.0 percent (6-of-24) from behind the arc and 82.4 percent (14-of-17) at the free throw line. 

Utah State wraps up its two-game road trip at UNLV (6-13, 4-4 MW) on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m. (MT).
