LOGAN, Utah – Utah State volleyball closed out its home portion of October competition on Saturday, falling to Colorado State, 3-0.
Utah State improved with each set, upping its score each time. The Aggies kept things close early in each set, before the Rams would make a run through the middle of each to build up the lead. Colorado State earned its 12th sweep of the year, topping the Aggies, 25-11, 25-13 and 25-16.
The Aggie opposite side hitters both had strong performances, leading the attack. Junior Bailey Downing hit a team-high .438 (9-2-16), while senior Izzie Belnap ended the match at .267 (6-2-15). Colorado State was led by senior middle blocker Paulina Hougaard-Jensen, who recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 11 blocks, while hitting .714 (10-0-14).
In all, USU hit .065 (24.19-77), while CSU hit a fiery .397 (36-9-68).
The Aggies head out on the road next, playing the next four matches away from Logan. The team will start the stretch with a pair of California matches, playing at Fresno State on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. (MT), and at San Diego State on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m.
