NOTES - USU Soccer Hosting Air Force and Colorado College This Week

Aggies will play at Friday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer (6-9-1, 1-6-1 MW) continues its 2019 season this week, hosting Air Force (9-5-1, 4-4-0 MW) on Friday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m., followed by another home contest against Colorado College (8-6-0, 3-5-0 MW) on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out
Utah State lost each of its matches last week with a 1-0 loss at Colorado State, followed by a 2-1 loss at Wyoming. Against the Rams, USU had a 17-11 advantage in shots and a 9-4 advantage in corners, but were unable to find the back of the net. Against the Cowgirls, freshman midfielder Sid Barlow recorded her team-leading third goal of the year, but Wyoming was able to score a pair of goals on set pieces for the win.

Looking at Air Force
Air Force is 9-5-1 on the year, including a 4-4-0 mark in league play. The Falcons will enter the match on Friday coming off of a 3-0 victory against New Mexico on Sunday.

AFA's attack is led by freshman forward Lexi Romero with team highs of 13 goals and five assists. Junior midfielder Emma Nelson is tied for the team lead in assists, also with five. Junior keeper Danielle Katz has started in goal for each of Air Force's matches this year, totaling more than 1,400 minutes, 57 saves and carrying a goals-against-average of 1.28.

The Series with Air Force
Utah State is 5-2-2 all-time against Air Force and has gone unbeaten in three of the last four. The Aggies are also unbeaten (2-0-1) at home against the Falcons.

Looking at Colorado College
Colorado College is 8-6-0 on the year, 3-5-0 in the Mountain West and currently riding a three-match losing streak. The Tigers will play at Boise State on Friday before making the trip to Logan on Sunday afternoon.

The Colorado College attack is paced by sophomore forward Jacqui Hand with a team-best nine goals, while junior midfielder Jenna Wilt and sophomore forward Kiley Suter are tied for the team lead with nine assists apiece. Freshman keeper Abby Oppermann and senior keeper Molly Hiniker have shared time in goal this season, appearing in more than 700 and 550 minutes, respectively. Oppermann leads the team with 28 saves and a goals-against-average of 0.68.

The Series with Colorado College
Utah State is 2-3-3 all-time against Colorado College, but is unbeaten (1-0-2) at home against the Tigers.

A Freshman Will Lead Them
Utah State is led in goal scoring by a freshman for the second consecutive year. Freshman midfielder Sid Barlow leads the Aggies with three goals this season.
