LOGAN, Utah – Utah State volleyball lost a 3-0 decision against Nevada on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, USU is now 1-3 in Mountain West play, while the Wolf Pack moved to 2-2 in the league and 13-3 overall.
Nevada took a quick opening lead in the first set, opening the frame with a 7-0 run. The Wolf Pack ultimately took the set, 25-15.
The second set proved to be closer as the teams swapped leads six times and were all knotted up eight times. The Wolf Pack broke a final 19-19 deadlock with a five-point run and went on to take the set, 25-20.
Nevada opened the third set with back-to-back points and never trailed in the frame, taking the match, 25-14.
Nevada was led by a pair of double-digit attackers in Brianna Souza with 18 kills, followed by Kayla Afoa with 13. Utah State was paced by senior opposite
Izzie Belnap with seven kills, while sophomore middle
Corinne Larsen led the Aggies with a .455 hitting percentage (5-0-11). Overall, Utah State hit .131 (25-12-99) to Nevada's .293 (50-16-116).

Grace DuBay led the USU back row with 10 digs, while Nevada had a pair in double figures, including Ryan Blackwood with 14 digs and Mandalay Rennon with 12. Rennon also led both sides with a match-high five service aces.
The Aggies take to the road next week for a pair of Mountain West matches. USU will play at UNLV on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. (MT), then at New Mexico on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 1 p.m.
