WAGON WHEEL BATTLE: Utah State and BYU will be playing for possession of the Old Wagon Wheel, which is the traveling trophy between the two schools. The Wagon Wheel became a part of the rivalry in 1948 and since its inception, the Cougars hold a 40-25 advantage in the series. However, the Aggies have won two straight heading into Saturday's showdown.
BLACK OUT: For the first time in school history, Utah State will be wearing all-black uniforms Saturday against BYU. The uniform features a flat, black helmet and chrome facemask, along with a glossy black and chrome decal. The uniform features the Aggie bull on each sleeve and AGGIES down each leg. The players' last names and jersey numbers are reflective.
IN REMEMBRANCE: A special helmet decal featuring the likeness of Utah State assistant equipment manager and longtime supporter of Aggie athletics Steve Wiley will be placed on the back right of the helmet. Wiley died last December at the age of 67. He drove USU's football equipment all across the country for nearly 20 years, beginning with a trip to New Mexico State on Oct. 21, 1995. His last road trip driving the equipment was in 2013. Volunteering his own time and personal vehicles, Wiley drove approximately 150,000 miles on more than 100 road trips.
JUST ONE MORE: Utah State senior placekicker
Dominik Eberle is just one point shy of becoming the school's all-time leader in career points. With his extra point at Air Force last weekend, the native of Nuremberg, Germany, pulled into a first-place tie with former Aggie running back Robert Turbin, who amassed 308 career points during his time at USU (2007-09, 2011).
FROM THE RECORD BOOKS: Roger Fernandez set the USU single-game record for kickoff return yards with 219 on seven attempts against BYU in 2001… Jeff Crosbie hit Aaron Jones on an 87-yard pass against the Cougars in 1999, the seventh-longest pass play in school history… Jalen Davis intercepted three passes and returned two of them for touchdowns against BYU in 2017, both of which are single-game school records.
THROUGH THE UPRIGHTS: Utah State has made 161 consecutive extra points to rank as the second-longest active streak in the nation, trailing only Georgia (275). The last time the Aggies missed an extra point was against San Diego State on Oct. 28, 2016.
HOMEGROWN: Utah State has 38 players in its program from the Beehive State, while BYU has 54 players on its roster from Utah.
