LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football players Jacoby Wildman and David Woodward both earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) first-team Academic All-District VIII honors it was announced Thursday.
 
Wildman, a 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive end from Logan, Utah (Logan HS), has played in all nine games for Utah State this season, making three starts, and ranks 10th on the team and second among defensive linemen with 27 tackles, which includes 2.0 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss.
 
Woodward, a 6-2, 235-pound linebacker from Olympia, Wash. (Olympia HS), has started all seven games he has played during the year and leads the team with 93 tackles, which includes 2.0 sacks and 5.0 tackles for loss. He also leads the team with four forced fumbles and has one fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown.
 
Both players are now eligible to earn Academic All-America honors as Wildman is working on his master's degree in business administration and has a 3.72 GPA, while Woodward is majoring in marketing and has a 3.30 GPA.
 
Wildman, who was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII team as a sophomore, has also earned academic all-Mountain West honors in each of the past three seasons along with twice being named a MW Scholar Athlete. Woodward has earned academic all-MW honors in each of the past two seasons.
District VIII consists of schools from Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada.
